Good Morning!

Testing Out a New Headrest

Mmmmm... Comfy!

Modeling the New Kringen Collection

Très Jolie, Maggie!
Hi everyone! Things have been jumping at the International House of Maggie this week. Lots of work is keeping us on our toes. Our business, Actual Industries, finished one of our first projects last week, which will go live on November 1. It’s a video for Nike’s Back Your Block campaign that features a mix of photographs and motion graphics. Look for it on a Facebook page near you, or at http://www.nikebackyourblock.com next week.
On Sunday, we got to go out for dinner with Jake and JoAnn to celebrate Jo’s birthday at Pok-Pok, a fantastic Thai restaurant in Southeast Portland. The dinner was an absolutely incredible collection of “authentic” Thai dishes that won’t be found on most menus here in the States – I now understand why there is always such a line to get inside. Yum!
Maggie has been learning how to use her voice lately. There have been a lot of squeaks, shrieks, coos and oohs and aahs coming from her these days She’s also developing the ability to grab and hold objects, which is fascinating and fun to watch.
Our friend Laura Kringen knitted a super cute hat and sweater for Maggie, which looks quite sharp on her. Thanks, Laura!
We also had some new arrivals in the past few days. Our long-time friends Michelle and Ian welcomed their new daughter, Joni, to the family this week. She was born on October 26, one day before Michelle’s mom’s and grandmother’s birthday! The delivery was fairly straightforward and mom and dad sound like they are doing great. Joni’s older brother Crosby is fascinated by his new sister’s antics. Yay!
Rachelle and Brendan Sanchez, our friends here in town, also welcomed their first child, Evan Gray Sanchez, to the fold. Brendan is the architect who designed our basement when we remodeled last year. Rachelle was a trooper, laboring for over 20 hours before Evan was delivered. Congrats, guys! Evan looks awesome. We also observed the passing of a great fuzzy friend, Luca Dollar, this weekend. Luca’s owner Lloyd and her friends and family put together a wonderful tribute for Luca, with a great spread that featured commemorative Greenie cookies, an epic slideshow and a eulogy. We walked on one of Luca’s favorite trails and spread his ashes under the trees near a stream. Afterwards, we sang “The Rainbow Connection.” It was quite touching. Luca was happy to see us, I’m sure.
Sasquatch is being his usual fuzzy self, protecting all of us from the mailman and from the kindly pedestrians walking past the house. He’s also found himself in the role of headrest for Maggie.
Best to everyone! Watch out for ghosts this weekend!
